I call for a do-over!

It's a sad truth all Greenbay Packer fans faced on Sunday, no Superbowl for them :( Brad is a huge fan, therefore I am too, by association. Dad dresses Brynner in one of his Brett Farve jerseys and I had to take some pictures-they looked so cute together! We thought we had won for sure when the kicker for NY shanked another field goal and we had won the coin toss. The next three pictures are from that blissful moment....

Then all our hopes and dreams came crashing down when Greenbay managed to loose by a field goal!! It was a sad day at the Roska household. I tried to tell Brynner it was only a game, but he was inconsolable.

1+1=3

I am so ashamed it's been soooo long since I've posted on our blog. I have repented so please check back often now as I feel like my head is back on straight. Becoming a mother it really all I've focused on lately and it's about time I come up for some air!! Brynner (pronounced Brenner) was born on December 2nd at 2:08 in the afternoon. He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long. We got to the hospital about 6:00AM that morning with determination that I was going to have a natural birth. I brought everything I thought I would need to accomplish the task at hand and never used a bit of it! I was dilated to a 7+ when I suddenly had a new goal of getting the anesthesiologist to my room sooner then later! haha! My contractions were overlapping toward the end and I didn't want to deal with it any longer. Very intense! I tip my hat to those that have gone natural. Our ultimate goal was to have a healthy baby and make it a memorable and positive experience. I wouldn't have changed anything about that day. It was perfect.

I had been having contractions for a couple weeks and thought I was going into labor twice before it really happened. His original delivery date was Nov. 26th. I really wanted him to come in Nov. because our family has so many December birthdays. I was dilated to a 4 a few days before the delivery date and my Doctor and myself anticipated an early delivery. Three days after the original due date came and went is when I really started to be sick of being pregnant with all the heartburn and being uncomfortable. If I didn't go into labor on my own my Doctor was going to start me on Dec. 3rd. So I was so excited when I really felt like I was having some real contraction Saturday night (Dec. 1st). I remember helping my husband and our friend John with a talent they would need to perform next week at our works Christmas party (I'll let Brad blog about that if he wishes). I realizing my contractions were starting to get more and more intense at about 11:00pm. At 3:00am I woke up Brad and had him start to help me relax as much as possible. We called his brother, Kent, to come watch our dog while we would be at the hospital and we were off at about 5:00am. As soon as we called our parents and family and let them know we were at the hospital, all of Brad's family came down to the hospital. This was to be the first Grandchild on Brad's side so you can only imagine how excited Grandma Roska was! She and her partner Irma came to wait for the delivery along with Brad's brother Elliott and Drew and his wife, Emily. From about 10:00am to 1:00pm we all sat in the room talking and of course watching the football game on TV with it being a Sunday afternoon. Brad was determined to, "Bring the boy up right from the start." I was just so excited to finally meet my baby I could barely believe it was time already when I began pushing about 1:15pm. I pushed for about 45 min. Brad and I later commented to each other about how relaxed our doc, Dr. Knowlton was with us. We would chat between contractions and listen to her and the nurse swap stories from other births they had been at. It was a very different atmosphere then anything you ever see on television or the movies. Watching him be born was the single greatest thing I've ever watched. It didn't freak me out like I had thought it might. It was truly beautiful. I remember seeing his face for the first time and feeling almost shocked that he was here-Finally!!! I was really relieved and soooo happy he was safe and healthy. Brad's reaction was my favorite! He just started to laugh (if you know Brad it's not a quiet laugh) and cry all at the same time. He kept saying how "Rad" he was. When I finally got to hold him I fell in love and felt so blessed to be his mother. It was so wonderful to finally see him. I remember thinking how much he opened his eyes and looked around quietly. My Mom was trying to catch a flight into Salt Lake and only missed the birth by an hour or two. I couldn't wait to show her and the rest of my family what a perfect baby we had!

It wasn't until the next day that we (and our neighbors) heard his sweet cry. (I don't know if other parents feel this way but when he cries both Brad and I think it's the cutest thing we've ever heard. He sounds like a little kitten sometimes.) Brad finally made me ask for a nurse to try and get some ideas of what to do. Turns out all he needed was a nice warm blanket and fast asleep he went-who knew! So enough of the typing....let me introduce you to our son Brynner Cash Roska.
