Story #1
On our second date I invited Brad over to my apartment for dinner. Afterward he made an apple pie from scratch-I was impressed. I can't exactly remember how the subject came up but he was telling me that he had never burned anything while he was cooking. Suddenly I pictured my Dad scrapping burnt toast with a knife over the sink and thought that everyone has at least burnt toast, right?! I proceeded to tease him and he continued to defend himself. Of course it only escalated the more time we spent together. Then one day it happened! He burned a grilled cheese sandwich at my apartment. I couldn't help but jump up and down while laughing and screaming ha! I told you so! I remember the look on his face perfectly. He wanted to be mad but just couldn't help the smile creeping up on his lips. It was priceless. To this day I still tease him when he accidentally burns something. Granted it doesn't happen often, but just the other day he did make the fire alarm go off!! :)
Story #2
Before I had the baby, Brad and I worked for the same company so we would go to lunch together. One day I saw what looked like an adorable little diner so Brad and I decided to try it out the next day for lunch. It was called the Vertical Diner. We sit down and see that they had a lot of tofu and alternative proteins among which they also listed chicken. So I ordered a veggie burger and Brad gets the chicken sandwich. 30 min. later we finally get our order. I had an ok burger with 4 regular sized carrot sticks. And Brad had a odd looking sandwich with a few tortilla chips (no salsa or anything just plain tortilla chips) Then Brad bites into his and thinks that they made a mistake and calls the waitress over. He told her he had ordered the Chicken Sandwich. She informed us that it was an entirely Vegan restaurant and that was the "Chicken." Nothing against substitute meats but why would they bother listing 6 different types of protein and then call the 7th Chicken? Confusing to say the least! They also didn't have anything printed on their menu about it being all Vegan. Brad couldn't eat the rest and we both laughed as I finished off my four carrot sticks. The waitress took off Brad's meal (even though we didn't ask, which was very nice). Our waitress said it happened all the time....so you'd think they would have something somewhere that said everything was Vegan right? The next closest thing was McDonald's so we stopped in for a double cheese for Brad and I got a Hot Fudge Sundae. We really did get a good laugh out of it so it was worth watching Brad's face as he tried to figure out what was on his sandwich. Sigh...We'll always have the Vertical Diner!

I love story time! And just so you know, we still talk about the rubber band in the cobbler, but I think it gets bigger every time. Last time I heard the story it was the size of a vacuum cleaner rubber band. Crap I forgot the first story hold on.
OK yes, very funny. That restaurant sounds great! If they only advertised as a vegan restaurant, they would get a lot more business! Very silly.
I am proud to say that I was there for that first Apple Pie that Brad made at our place. It was mighty scrumptious! Do you also remember those yummy lemon pepper potatoes that Danny D. made all the time? I may venture tonight!
Yay for story time! Keep 'em coming!
I have to agree with Zach anf Amy--the story gets bigger. I think I heard that it was a vaccuum rubberband too!!!:) That is so funny!!!
At least I am famous for something!! I think Tyler snuck it in there just to tease me. You know he is capable...He He Mom
Oh my gosh I forgot all about the cobbler story! That was the greatest! When I read that I laughed so hard I was crying! Good times!
Very funny about Vertical Diner! I can just imagine Brad's reaction! I personally am very excited to go and eat there!!!
stop the presses I vividly remember back in the days of high school Brad being on the phone with a Girl and leaving a tortilla on the burner until the house was covered in black smoke. (we Roskas have a very different style of warming tortillas) In fact I remember it happening several times and only with tortillas.
